What is Jyotish (Vedic Astrology)?

Vedic Astrology is the traditional astrology of India and part of a greater system of yogic knowledge.  While similar to Western Astrology in using planets, houses and aspects, it calculates these differently and adds many unique factors of it's own.  Vedic Astrology is a comprehensive system of astrological interpretation, containing accurate methods for examining all aspects of life including health, relationships, career and spiritual path.  It has tremendous power for guidance on how to live in harmony with the universe while helping us to understand and transcend the influence of karma and reveal our Dharma in this lifetime.  

Natal Chart Reading:

This life-reading is an analysis of your birth chart and focuses on your gifts, goals and life purpose.  It is literally a portrait of the sky at the moment you were born and translates all planetary influences in areas of career, health, family and spirituality, etc.  In Danielle's consultations she will offer spiritual practices, herbs, upayas or remedial measures of mantra, meditation, ritual, color therapy etc. to assist in harmonizing planetary energies and ultimately transforming them.  EXACT birth date, time and place is needed for the reading.  This session can be done in person or via Zoom and a recording will be emailed to you.

Birth Star Reading and Anointing Oil (via email)

The Birth Star shows our personality type and the karmic energy we are working with in this life. Many of us are familiar with our Moon Sign but the birth star is much more specific to you personally. This is why 3 people can have the same moon sign but be totally different. There are 3-4 constellations within each asterism, totaling 27 Nakshatras (Birth Stars), so almost one for every moon phase and day. Each nakshatra has a Shakti, a particular power that is granted through the Devata (deity associated with the nakshatra) that rules it. You will receive your birth star reading via email and anointing oil will be mailed to you to use as an aid in meditation, a possible upaya, for dreamwork or as a personal perfume.  Danielle crafts these oils personally as they are a sadhana (spiritual practice) for her.  She starts out gathering herbs that correspond with the planet that rules your particular Birth Star.  From there she combines the organic propriety herbs in an organic almond oil and allows them to Solar infuse under the Sun's rays for a full Moon cycle, full moon to full moon.  After that she chooses the scent based on the elements that correspond with your ruling planet and her intuition.  Culminating in an aromatic sensorial experience that brings the cosmos down to mingle with earth in a bottle for you.

In the initial consultation we will go over your intake form and discuss any issues you are having with your health and address why you are seeking herbal support. I will consult your astrological birth chart to determine constitution and other factors that will help determine my approach to your healing. In addition to herbal recommendations I will also bring in dietary and lifestyle suggestions. My work centers around healing for the physical, emotional, mental and energetic bodies and using herbs to support that. 5. Brighid’s Well- What is Brighid’s Well? It is the well I drink from, the well I have always drunk from. Every creative endeavor, each pregnancy and birth, every bit of poetry I have written and all of the healing thus far has come from here. She is my namesake and patron Saint (my family call me by my middle name, Bridget, anglo catholic spelling) and it was my paternal grandmother’s name. She is the Celtic Goddess of fire, poetry, water, healing, childbirth, midwifery, livestock and metalsmithing. She is represented by the hearth fire and associated with the emotional warmth of the family home. Said to be present at every birth, blessing midwives in their work and protecting the children. I wore her amulet during my pregnancies and births. Her name means "Exalted One” or “High One”. It was she whom the Druids held in honor as a torch bearer of eternal light.

After Christianity took over she became St. Bridget. Her priestesses kept Brighid’s Flame lit near her well in Kildare, Ireland for thousands of years. In the 1500’s the Bishop ordered it to be put out for being too pagan. It was out for over 400yrs until the Brigidine Sisters re- established Brighid’s Flame and it has been lit ever since.

I live a life steeped in ritual that was ignited in my upbringing in a catholic household. Keeping a Brighid's Cross hanging in my home always. 10. Danu, Mother of the God’s, Sitz Bath- Danu means "flowing one". She is the great mother of the Gods, of Ireland and the divine creator who birthed all things into being! An earth goddess who is connected to the Faery Hills and the Dolmens (portal tombs). She is the great goddess of the Tuatha De Danann, the Irish Gods, and all of them can trace their Lineage back to her. There is also mention of a Danu in the Rig Veda saying that she is the goddess of the sea...could it be the same one?!? Danu wields Earth magic to protect her children and water magic to transform them into enlightened beings.

She is one of my favorite Celtic Goddesses and was almost the name for my daughter. There is nothing quite like an herbal sitz bath after giving birth to soothe sensitive tissues and to encourage healing of the perineal area. This is in the top 3 of must haves. I also liked using it to bathe with the baby in a full bath or using it to soak sanitary pads to freeze for a pain relieving ice pack after birth. I would get horrible Gallbladder attacks that would bring me to my knees in the first trimester of both pregnancies, horrific pain that had me pass out once. Gallbladder removal is pretty common in pregnant women and Dandelion really helped me to avoid that. Being a strong Pitta constitution my focus is always on my liver and detoxing.
