Full Moon in Swati Nakshatra

April 29, 2018

Full Moon in Swati Nakshatra @8:58pm EST 4/29🌕🌺🌕 This upcoming full moon is positioned in area of the sky called Swati Nakshatra, the 15th lunar mansion residing entirely within the sign of Libra(sidereal zodiac). It is primarily located near the golden star Arcturus, the brightest star in the constellation Bootis.  Swati means “sword” and reflects a strong desire for independence and an ability to bend with the wind. This is a sweet and compassionate asterism fitting well with being called the Pink Moon. There is also Gajakesari Yoga being formed in the 1st house on this full moon day. This is a powerful conjunction of Moon and Jupiter. Gaja means “elephant” and Kesari means “lion”. This grants the toughness and vigor of the Lion and also the majesty and dignity of the elephant. Jupiter (Guru) combined with Chandra (Moon) bestows wisdom, wealth, growth, knowledge, beauty, nourishment, imagination and a higher understanding of emotions. It is said that this yoga can cancel out any negative effects in ones natal chart.
The residing deity for Swati is Vayu, the demigod of wind, air, breath and prana and the ruling planet is Rahu (north node of the moon) so there is a Venus/Rahu energy present here. This brings a zest for life, foreign influence and beauty. Someone with this Birth Star would possibly be a musician or artist and traveling to foreign countries often.  Swati’s Shakti gives the power to scatter like the wind (pradhvamsa shakti) resulting in a restless and adventurous nature. There are tremendous communication powers experienced here along with business, trade and commerce being highlighted.

Saraswati is the other deity associated with this asterism bestowing gifts in the creative arts and music.  Swati’s symbol is coral (the gem), which has strong intuitive and psychic properties.  Natives born under this asterism tend to have strong psychic abilities and a charitable nature.
Swati’s shadow is self-centeredness and  ultimately the lesson is to overcome material and sensory attachments. With spiritual practice like pranayama this is achieved. After success is found in the world, then the spiritual journey can begin.
